DR. DAVLYNN PEDRICK

Dr. Davlynn Pedrick was born in Manitoba and grew up in the prairie provinces of Manitoba and Saskatchewan.

Since the age of 5, she always answered the question of “What do you want to be when you grow up?” with “A vet.”

Dr. Pedrick completed a Bachelor of Science in Animal Bioscience with an undergraduate thesis on neonicotinoids and honeybees at the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon, SK. After completion of her bachelors degree, she was accepted into the Veterinary Medicine Program at the Western College of Veterinary Medicine (WCVM) in Saskatoon, SK. Dr. Pedrick completed the program in the Spring of 2022 and was looking for a small animal and exotics practice in BC, since she always wanted to end up near the mountains. She found Neighbourhood Veterinary Hospital in Kamloops and realized it was exactly what she was looking for! Dr. Pedrick is thrilled to be working with the amazing team at NVH and is excited to meet the clients and their pets over the coming months.

Dr. Pedrick has many areas of interest in veterinary medicine. Her favourites are:

  • Exotic Animal Medicine and Surgery

Dr. Pedrick is very passionate about exotics. She loves all exotic creatures from birds and snakes to lizards, small mammals, amphibians and anything in between! She has spent time working with exotic pets, sick and injured wildlife, as well as zoo animals. During her final year of school, she attended a rotation at the Toronto Zoo where she worked with all sorts of creatures, both big and small, including a polar bear and a lemur leaf frog.

  • Rehabilitation

Dr. Pedrick is excited about many rehabilitation and non-traditional therapies including acupuncture, therapeutic ultrasound, laser therapy, platelet-rich plasma therapy, and hydrotherapy. After completing an externship at a rehab focused clinic, she was amazed at how quickly post-op orthopaedic surgery patients would heal and how other lameness and injuries responded to these non-traditional treatments. She hopes to pursue additional training in this area in the future.

  • Ultrasonography

Dr. Pedrick is also interested in ultrasonography and sees the value that this medical imaging modality has in everyday practice. She hopes to continue to develop these skills and may also pursue additional training in ultrasonography in the future.

  • Wellness and Preventative Medicine

Dr. Pedrick is passionate about preventive medicine and wellness appointments. She loves talking to owners about dental hygiene, including daily tooth brushing, and weight management as these are two of the preventable ‘epidemics’ in our pet population.

When not in the clinic, Dr. Pedrick enjoys spending her time in the air doing aerial silks and hammock, climbing a wall, or on the ground trying out a new hiking route.

Dr. Pedrick currently has two adorable rats named Mozzy and Mo. They are biological sisters who love to eat good snacks, play, and hang out on their mom’s shoulders or snuggled into the hood of a sweater. Dr. Pedrick has plans to add a feline companion to the family next!
